Cream cheese icing is not the correct icing for red velvet cake.
cream cheese icing is EXACTLY the correct icing for red vevet cake. That’s the only icing I would ever use on red velvet and everyone I know uses it for that type of cake.
I have never seen any red velvet cake that didn’t have cream cheese frosting. Be it homemade or boughten product.
Randomreader is correct! The original Waldorth Cake”s (red cake as we know it know) frosty is a cooked butter cream(?) frosting. I was a little girl when this recipe was first printed and my Mom made 3 of them a year. One for my sisters” and mine birthdays and the last one was for Christmas.
YUMMY!
