Ingredients:
- 6 sweet onions, about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds, 3 to 4 inches in diameter
- 1 stick butter
Preparation:
Slice ends off onions and peel, leaving whole. Place the onions and butter in a slow cooker and cook on low 24 to 36 hours, until the onions are deep golden brown and very tender. Use as many onions as your slow cooker will hold, adding proportionately more butter. Cooking time varies with slow cooker brand. Freeze these in batches to extend the sweet onion season!
