INGREDIENTS:
PREPARATION:Mix egg, sugar, shortening (I use half margarine and half Crisco), spices and molasses. Stir in
flour and soda. Add more flour if dough seems too soft; working with a chilled dough is
easier. Form dough into small balls. Roll in sugar, but do not flatten. Bake at 350-375 degrees
for 10 - 12 min. Cookies will puff up. Take out just before they start to flatten again. While
warm frost with powdered sugar frosting. People always ask me for my recipe when I take
these cookies along. You can vary the crispness by the amount of flour you add and the time you
bake them.
