Crockpot Steak Roulade

By Diana Rattray, About.com

The flank steak beef roulade recipe is cooked in the crockpot or slow cooker.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • salt and pepper
  • 3/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces bacon, diced (about 10 slices)
  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth

Preparation:

Trim fat from flank steaks then season with salt and pepper. Mix onion and bacon, spread over each steak. Roll steaks from short end (as you'd do for a jelly roll). Tie rolls tightly in several places with a string. Put steaks into slow cooker. Add 1/4 cup water or broth. Cover pot. Cook on LOW for 8 to 9 hrs.

If you want to serve this with gravy, strain juices into a saucepan and simmer to reduce slightly. Thicken with a mixture of flour and a small amount of cold water while simmering.
