Venison Recipes for the Slow Cooker, Oven, and Stovetop

The slow cooker is an excellent way to cook many cuts of venison, especially roasts and stews. The long, slow cooking breaks the meat down and makes it tender and juicy. If you prefer a stovetop method, most of these recipes can be braised in a Dutch oven over low heat or in a 300 F oven.

These mouth-watering recipes are some of our favorites, or you might also alter a beef pot roast recipe with a venison shoulder, ham, or chuck roast. If you don't like the "gamey" taste of venison, choose a highly-seasoned roast or stew. 

Chili is a good choice since it's made with heat and a variety of spices. Grind the venison coarsely or dice it for a delicious chili or stew. Or use ground venison in sloppy Joe sandwiches.
