Pickling spices and cardamom seed make this spicy pot roast recipe unique.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 pot roast, about 4 pounds
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons mixed pickling spices
  • 2 tablespoons cardamom seed
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cold water
