Steps to Make It
Make the Dumplings

Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 375 F/190 C/Gas 5. Lightly butter a 9x13 or 10x14 baking dish (3 to 4 quarts).

Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

Cut in 10 tablespoons of the butter until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.

Tips

- You can use sweeter varieties of apples for this recipe, like Honeycrisp, but make sure they are nice and crisp.
- The pastry can be made up to two days ahead of time. After forming a shaggy ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate. When ready to use, let warm up on the counter for about 15 minutes before rolling out.
