Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups flour, sift before measuring
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • granulated sugar or cinnamon sugar mixture, optional

Preparation:

Sift the sifted flour, baking powder and salt together into a large bowl. Made a well in center of dry ingredients; add remaining ingredients. Beat with a wooden spoon until thoroughly blended. Divide dough into 3 parts; wrap each in waxed paper. Chill dough in refrigerator about 2 hours. Remove one portion at a time from refrigerator to work with. Shape about 1/2 teaspoon dough into a ball; place on well-greased baking sheet or silpat baking mats. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a well-floured glass to about 1/8- to 1/16-inch thickness. Bake at 375° about 5 to 7 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove from baking sheet immediately.

If desired, sprinkle with sugar or a cinnamon-sugar mixture just before baking.
