Sweet and Sour Chicken

Sweet and sour Spanish-style chicken recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken, cut up, or 6 chicken breast halves
  • 2 cups water
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • dash pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 chorizos, sliced, optional

Preparation:

Wash chicken in water with lime juice. Drain and dry on paper towels. Mash garlic with oregano, salt and pepper. Rub into chicken parts. Melt butter in a large heavy skillet. Add chicken and brown quickly on both sides. Add remaining ingredients. As soon as sugar has melted, turn to low and cover skillet; cook for 30 minutes. Uncover, turn chicken, and cook for about 25 to 30 minutes longer, or until chicken is tender.
Sweet and sour chicken recipe serves 6.
