Recipe Variations

  • Making the most of your ham and sweet potato bake may mean adding some spices and additional ingredients. The options are easy to find. You can call this recipe "spiced" by adding 3/4 teaspoon of allspice and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon tossed with the apples and sweet potatoes before adding it to the ham in the baking dish.
  • If apples aren't your first choice, try crushed pineapples instead. To dial up the savory flavor in this dish, exchange the brown sugar for chopped onions sautéed in butter and add grated Swiss cheese before baking.
