Yield: 1 12- to 14-inch Pizza
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried leaf basil
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
Preparation:
Turn dough out of the bread machine. Roll out to fit the pizza pan. Cover lightly with plastic wrap and let rest for 10 minutes. Top with pizza sauce and toppings of your choice.
Bake in a 400° oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until crust is nicely browned.
To make by hand: Warm the water to about 100 to 110°. Dissolve yeast in the water with the sugar. Combine yeast mixture with the remaining ingredients in a bowl until dough is well combined; turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, 8 to 10 minutes. Grease and put in a bowl; cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled. Turn out of the bowl and continue as above.
