Serve melba toast with soup or salad, or with dips at a party.

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 long thin loaf of French bread
  • butter, softened
  • fresh grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation:

Slice loaf into 1/4-inch slices. Spread slices with butter then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Place on a cake rack or other rack over a baking sheet, so drips will be caught and air will move around the slices. Bake at 325° for about 20 minutes, or until dry and very crispy.

WHAT NO CRUSTY BREAD!, Member SQUILLY6

LAST TIME I MADE MELBA TOAST WAS 40 YEARS AGO FOR A MAYORS LUNCHEON CLUB AT SCHOOL, SO THIS WAS A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE. WE WERE HAVING PEPPERED MACKERAL, BABY NEW POTATOES AND MIXED SALAD WITH FRENCH DRESSING BUT NO CRUSTY BREAD SO THIS WAS QUICK TOTALLY GORGEOUS WITH PARMESAN ON AND BUTTER MMMMMM
