Simple Sugared Bacon


Use this delicious sugared bacon as an appetizer as it is, or leave it in larger pieces and use it to wrap small pieces of cooked chicken. It's good with breakfast, too!

  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 pound thick sliced bacon


In a bowl or container, combine the bacon slices and brown sugar, thoroughly coating the bacon slices. Cover and let stand until the sugar melts and becomes syrupy. Heat oven to 350°. Place a rectangular cake cooling rack in a roasting pan or large jelly roll pan. Arrange the bacon on the rack. Alternatively, you may use a broiler pan. Bake the bacon for about 16 to 20 minutes, then increase the temperature setting to broil. Broil for about 2 minutes, or until bacon is crisp. Drain on paper towels and cut into bit size pieces or use longer pieces to wrap appetizer portions or chicken, meatballs, scallops, or pork. Related Recipes:
