Crunchy garbanzo beans? A wonderfully different change from the ubiquitous peanuts usually served at a party.
Your guests will love the flavor and spiciness, determined by the amount of cayenne pepper and Tabasco Sauce you add.
If the roasted beans are made ahead and get soft, re-crisp by placing in a preheated 400ºF oven for 5 minutes, or until crisp again.
Nutty Tip: The above instructions to re-crisp the roasted garbanzo beans applies to nuts as well. If you find a can of peanuts or mixed nuts that have gotten stale, pop them in the oven as above and they'll not only be crisp, but nice and hot.
Yield: About 2 1/2 Cups
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/8-1/4 teaspoon Tabasco Sauce
- 2 (15-oz.) cans garbanzo beans, drained and towel dried
Preheat the oven to 400ºF.
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and toss to coat evenly. Transfer to a baking sheet and spread out in a single layer. Bake for about 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes.
