"I have been making this recipe in the crockpot since the mid-1960's. I have used even round steak. I put the vegetables (usually carrots and potatoes) on the bottom and the meat on top. Then I mix the onion mix (dried onion/mushroom mix good too) into the beer. It fizzes up. And then I pour it all on top of the meat/vegetables. I put the meat and potatoes on individual plates on top of 2 slices of bread. And then pour on the juice. OR if you like, thicken the juice with 2 ounces of cold water with corn starch mixed in. Then pour into juice and stir/heat to a gravy consistency."
