Saucy Beef and Mushrooms Recipe


This simple beef and mushrooms recipe is finished with a sour cream sauce. The beef is delicious with hot buttered noodles or rice. Add steamed broccoli or your favorite vegetable or salad for a tasty everyday meal.

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds round steak, cut in 1/2-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced or whole mushrooms, drained
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups sour cream


Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat; brown beef cubes for about 10 to 15 minutes, turning frequently. Add salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes, or until tender. Remove meat from skillet. Add mushrooms to skillet and simmer for about 5 minutes; blend in flour. Gradually stir in sour cream. Heat and stir until thickened -- do not boil. Return meat to sauce and heat through. Serve with hot seasoned rice or noodles.
Serves 6 to 8.
