Stroganoff Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces egg noodles
  • 3/4 cup sliced onions
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • dash pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small can (2 to 3 ounces, about 1/4 cup) mushroom slices or pieces, with liquid
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk

Preparation:

Cook noodles; drain. In a saucepan, combine onions and ground beef. Heat over medium heat, stirring, until beef is no longer pink and onions are tender. Remove from heat; blend in the flour, pepper, and salt. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mushrooms, and buttermilk; mix well. Stir noodles into the ground beef mixture; transfer to a baking dish and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Serves 4 to 6.
