Basic dumplings for stew.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup milk or water

Preparation:

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together; add liquid and mix to make a batter that can be dropped from a spoon. Drop onto boiling stew, being careful there is plenty of liquid. Cover and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on size of dumplings.

Dumplings in a hurryAugust 01, 2007By Melindaom
"...mmm.... husband is the usual cook in our house (Sydney, Australia) ... I made a stew for a change..... he said ""what about dumplings""... and said I needed to get ""vegetable suet"" for dumplings which I couldnt get in my local shop... decided to go on web to see if I could find recipe anyway... I found this one - he ended up cooking it and decided to add a teaspoon of ""mixed herbs"" ... SENSATIONAL - I recommend this recipe completely - and so does he!"
