This is a fabulous bread for toasting, and it makes delicious sandwiches, too.
Yield: 1 Large Loaf
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 1/3 cups water, room temperature
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 3/4 cups bread flour
- 2 tablespoons dark or light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Add ingredients to the bread machine in the order recommended by your bread machine manufacturer. Bake on basic cycle, medium crust. Makes 1 large loaf.
