Egg and Sausage Bake

Egg and sausage bake recipe with bread, cheese, seasonings, eggs, and pork sausage.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage, crumbled
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground paprika
  • dash ground nutmeg
  • 3 slices French or Italian bread, cubed
  • 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese

Preparation:

Cook sausage in a skillet, stirring and breaking up, until nicely browned. Put sausage on paper towels to drain. In a large bowl beat eggs, milk, and seasonings until well blended. Stir in drained sausage, bread, and cheese. Transfer to a lightly buttered 8-inch square baking dish. cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 1 hour before baking. Bake in preheated 325° oven for 1 to 1 1/4 hours, or until lightly browned or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
Serves 6.

"a friend turned me on the this receipe. I had tried it at a babyshower and I like it so much I asked for the receipe. then once I received a copy I made it as a side dish on christmas morning. Within seconds the dish was empty. I make it all the time. And I will continue to pass this recipe on to my friends"
