Yield: Serves 2 to 3
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup bulgur wheat, medium grind
- 1 to 1 1/4 cups skim or 1% milk, plus more for serving
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed, light or dark, optional
- Optional Toppings: brown sugar, maple syrup, bluegberries, strawberries, raisins, dried cranberries, etc.
Preparation:
In a small saucepan, combine the bulgur, 1 cup milk, salt, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, stirring frequently, until thickened and tender, about 12 to 16 minutes. Add a little more milk or water if needed as it nears the end of cooking time.
Serve with milk, a little maple syrup and/or brown sugar, or top with berries or raisins.
Serves 2.
