These basic brownies are made with melted chocolate, butter, and 2 eggs. Use walnuts, pecans, or other chopped nuts in these chocolate brownies.

  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sifted all purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts


Directions for brownies
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and butter. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and foamy. Add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy and thick. Stir n vanilla and cooled chocolate mixture. Stir in flour, salt and chopped nuts. Spread batter for brownies in a greased and floured 8-inch square baking pan. Bake brownies at 350° for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until firm. Cool brownies in pan on rack.

I'm actually about to make them again for a family get together. They are chewy, dense, but not overly rich, and the taste is wonderful. I would recommend this recipe to anyone who likes a good fudgie brownie. It's good with or without nuts.
