German Chocolate Brownies with Cream Cheese Swirl

Swirls of sweetened cream cheese make these chocolate brownies extra special. The chocolate is German sweet chocolate, and nuts are included in the chocolate batter.


  • 4 ounces German sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • .
  • Cream Cheese Topping:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon flour


Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies
Melt chocolate and margarine over very low heat. Stir sugar into chocolate mixture; add eggs and vanilla stir until completely mixed. Mix in flour until well blended. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased and floured 8-inch square pan.

Prepare topping. Mix cream cheese, sugar, egg and flour until smooth. Spoon over brownie batter mixture in pan, swirl with knife to make a "marble" pattern. Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool in pan on a rack; cut cream cheese brownies into squares.

My cousin prepared these brownies for me years ago and I lost the recipe. I was so impressed with how moist they are and super delicious. I love these brownies and can't wait to make them now since I have the recipe. I am going to print it out and make them tomorrow. YUMMMMMY!!!
