These rich, moist, dark chocolate brownies are perfect for a special occasion or extra-special weekend treat.

  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 4 ounces butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts


Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan. Heat oven to 350°.

Melt chocolate and butter in a bowl or pan over simmering water, stirring until smooth and warm.

In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat eggs with salt and sugar and vanilla until the mixture is a light and thickened. Stir in the melted chocolate and butter mixture then fold in the flour and walnuts.

Bake for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out nearly clean when inserted in the center.

Not enough chocolate?, Member jetztaber.s

Hmm, it was tasty but not a real browny. Maybe because I took the wrong sugar (white sugar). Or not enough chocolate? It was not that dense and moist I expected it to be. If someone has suggestions I'd be happy.
