Butterscotch Brownies

Butterscotch brownie recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup chocolate or butterscotch chips, or 1/2 cup each flavor

Preparation:

Melt shortening in a saucepan over low heat; remove from heat. Mix in brown sugar, vanilla and egg; stir well. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased and floured 8x8x2 inch pan. Bake butterscotch brownies at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cut butterscotch brownies while warm.

Brownies missing something!, Member jrkwood

I tried the brownies and cannot figure out what the problem was with them - they were not done in the suggested baking time - so I continued to bake them for an additional 5-10 minutes -- still very gooey in the middle. So, I baked for another 10 minutes and they were just getting harder on the edges and top, so I gave up! They tasted ""ok"" but I will not make these again.
