INGREDIENTS:
PREPARATION:Preheat oven to 325°. Sift flour with salt and baking soda. In a mixing bowl with hand-held electric mixer on high, beat egg until foamy. Add brown sugar and vanilla; beat well. Stir in flour mixture, then walnuts. With a spatula, spread batter in well-greased 8- x 8- x 1-inch pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until top has formed a crust. Cut into 2-inch bars; cool in pan. Makes about 16 walnut bars.
