Maple Walnut Bars

Maple walnut bars are made with raisins, maple flavoring, and walnuts.

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation:

Cream shortening and sugar; add maple flavoring and egg, beating well. Sift flour with the salt and baking powder; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in raisins and chopped walnuts. Spread batter in a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly before cutting into squares.
Makes about 16 squares.
