Peanut Butter Blondies

I used a mixture of milk chocolate and peanut butter morsels in these delicious bars. Feel free to use milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips in these brownies, or use all peanut butter chips.

Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup peanut butter and milk chocolate morsels or all chocolate chips or peanut butter morsels

Preparation:

Grease and flour an 8- or9- inch square baking pan. Heat oven to 350°. In a mixing bowl with electric mixer, beat melted butter, brown sugar, and peanut butter until smooth and creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Slowly beat in flour, soda, and baking powder. Stir in chocolate chips or mixture of chocolate and peanut butter chips.

Spread/pat evenly in the baking pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until set.

A little trick to give this recipe a bit more punch! Always use both light and dark brown sugar instead of 1cup of just one. It makes a huge difference! So 1/2c light and 1/2c dark. Also that 1 tspn of vanilla extract has to be of a pure vanilla extract. Yes imitation extracts are cheaper but they also destroy the taste of any dessert. This recipe has been tried a lot and with these few adjustments it is now true.
