- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, for topping
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in egg.
Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, soda, and nutmeg; stir with a whisk to blend.
Add the flour mixture alternately with sour cream, beating after each addition until smooth.
Stir in raisins and chopped pecans or walnuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between the cookies.
Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Store cooled cookies in an airtight container.
Makes about 2 1/2 to 3 dozen.
