Christmas Cookies

Bake with colored sugar or decorate with your favorite cookie icing.

Cook Time: 8 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • colored sugar

Preparation:

Cream together butter, shortening, and sugar; add the eggs and blend well. Sift together flour, soda, and cream of tartar; stir into the creamed mixture. Stir in vanilla. Chill the dough thoroughly. Roll chilled dough out on a lightly floured surface and cut with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheets, sprinkle with colored sugar, and bake at 425° for 6 to 8 minutes. Recipe makes about 6 dozen Christmas cookies.
