Shrimp Creole

A recipe for shrimp Creole, made with tomatoes, shrimp, and celery and onion. Serve shrimp Creole with hot cooked rice.

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder, mild
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 17oz can tomatoes
  • 1 cup green peas, cooked
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 7 drops Tabasco sauce
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 pound shrimp, shelled, deveined, & cooked
  • 3 cups cooked rice

Preparation:

Saute onion with celery in olive oil until transparent; mix in chili powder and flour thoroughly. Mix in tomatoes and peas and bring to a simmer. Add sugar, Tabasco, and salt to taste. Add white wine and simmer until thickened, about 15 - 20 minutes. Add shrimp and cook only until they are heated through. Serve at once on a bed of hot rice.
Serves 6.

"My husband said it was ""delicious"" It's a great way to use leftover shrimp from a party. I did not add the peas, since I don't like them. I served it over brown rice and it was outstanding!"
