Chocolate Pecan Wafers

Into a bowl, sift together the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda into sifter. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in melted chocolate, egg, vanilla, and milk. Sift in dry ingredients, about 1/3 at a time, blending to make a soft dough. Chill for 3 to 4 hours or overnight, or until dough is firm enough to handle.

Add the granulated sugar to a pie plate.

Shape dough, about 1 teaspoon at a time, into small balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, spacing about 3 inches apart. Using the bottom of a glass, flatten each cookie to about 1/4-inch thick. Top each with a pecan half.

Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until firm. Carefully remove from cookie sheet and cool on racks. Store in a tightly covered container.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
