Be the first to Use a little melted dark chocolate to make these logs look like white birch trees.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3 teaspoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 ounces vanilla candy coating or almond bark
- 2 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted
Preparation:
Heat oven to 400°. Grease baking sheets or line with nonstick cooking mats. In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light. Add milk, vanilla and egg; beat well. Add flour, baking powder and cinnamon; blend well.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. On lightly floured surface, roll balls into log shapes, about 6 inches in length. Place the logs on greased cookie sheets.
Bake cookies at 400° for about 6 to 8 minutes, or until light golden brown. Remove immediately and cool completely.
Place melted candy coating or almond bark in shallow bowl or pie plate. Dip logs into the melted vanilla candy coating; place on waxed paper to cool. Drizzle a little melted semisweet chocolate over logs to make them resemble birch trees.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
