Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup colored sugar or cinnamon sugar
- pecan halves or whole blanched almonds
Preparation:
Cream butter and sugar until light and creamy. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Stir sifted dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Chill for 1 to 2 hours.
Place small balls of dough onto greased baking sheet. Grease bottom of a glass then dip in cinnamon sugar or decorator's sugar. Press each ball of cookie dough into a thin circle with sugared bottom of glass. Press a pecan half or almond into the top of each cookie.
Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
