Sausage - Stuffed Mushrooms

Mushrooms are stuffed with browned sausage, bread crumbs, and mozzarella cheese. Sausage stuffed mushroom recipe.


  • 1 1/2 pounds large mushrooms
  • 8 ounces pork sausage
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs


Remove stems from mushrooms; chop stems and set aside. Cook sausage; remove from skillet. Using 1 to 2 tablespoons of sausage drippings, cook mushroom stems for 5 to 10 minutes, until tender and browned. Remove from heat and stir in sausage, bread crumbs and cheese. Fill mushroom caps with the sausage mixture. Bake 15 minutes at 450°.

Simple but good, Member friedrice78

I made the sausage stuffed mushrooms and was pleased. This was the most basic recipe and used the fewest ingredients of any other recipe selection. I had all the ingredients on hand. I did add a tablespoon of chopped onions and topped the mushrooms with some evoo as they were dry. This helped brown the entire mushroom.
