Romano Cheese Sauce Recipe


This is a tasty Romano cheese sauce for pasta, made with a little garlic and chopped fresh parsley.

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 cup light cream or half-and-half
  • 1 cup milk
  • white pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
  • 3/4 cup grated Romano cheese


Combine butter and olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat; add flour and stir until well blended. Cook for about 2 minutes, until flour is just beginning to turn a light blonde color; add garlic. Gradually stir in the cream and milk with pepper and parsley. Continue cooking, stirring, until thickened.

Stir in the cheese and serve immediately over hot cooked pasta.
