Corn Chowder With Bacon

This corn chowder recipe is a great choice if you're looking for a hearty, flavorful chowder. A generous amount of bacon flavors this tasty soup, along with cream style corn, potatoes, and a little onion.

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup diced bacon
  • 4 medium potatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups cups cream-style corn, 2 (12 ounces each) cans or 1 pound, 4 ounce package frozen
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 cups half-and-half or light cream, scalded

Preparation:

Sauté bacon until browned and crisp; add chopped potatoes and onions. Add water, corn, and seasonings; cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Stir in half-and-half; heat through but do not boil. Serves 4.

EXTREMELY AMAZING CHOWDER!!!!!!!, Member mmttbb10

I made this corn chowder for a school project, and almost everybody who tried it wanted my recipe! Everybody else (the people who didn't ask for the recipe) said it was the best chowder ever, and a couple of people in my class said that I should be a chef. I think it is a good idea to add some spices. I added rosemary and thyme. I also used half creamed corn and half frozen corn so I could show there was corn actually in it, and I had a super huge onion so I used half of it. It also fits well into a normal crock pot, so you can warm it up easily.
