This tasty beef brisket is easy to prepare and cook in the slow cooker. Serve with mashed potatoes and corn for a fabulous family meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 beef brisket, about 3 to 4 pounds
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons steak sauce
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons flour mixed with about 2 to 3 tablespoons of cold water

Preparation:

Place the beef brisket in the liner of the slow cooker and top with the chopped onion. In a bowl, combine the broth, steak sauce, ketchup, cinnamon, allspice, salt, pepper, and garlic. Pour over the beef and onions. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.

Pour liquids into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer briskly for 5 to 8 minutes to reduce by about one-third. Combine the flour with cold water and whisk until smooth. Pour into the simmering liquid and stir, cooking, until thickened. Serve sauce with the sliced beef.

Serves 6 to 8.
