Spicy Citrus Ribs

Spicy citrus ribs recipe made with country style ribs, lemon and orange slices, and a homemade barbecue sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 pounds country style ribs
  • 1 large lemon or 1 1/2 medium lemons, thinly sliced
  • 1 large orange or 1 1/2 medium oranges, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 to 4 dashes Tabasco sauce

Preparation:

Place ribs in a shallow roasting pan, meaty side up. On each rib, place a thin slice of lemon, a thin slice of orange, and an onion slice. Roast at 450° for 20 minutes. Combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Pour sauce mixture over ribs. Reduce oven temperature to 350°; continue roasting for 1 hour longer, basting several times.
Country style pork ribs recipe serves 4 to 6.
