Grilled Spareribs

This recipe for grilled spareribs is made with a marinade and a sauce for grilling.

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 pounds spareribs, cut in serving-size portions
  • .
  • Marinade
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 bay leaf, crumbled
  • .
  • Sauce
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Preparation:

Arrange ribs in a deep glass or stainless steel dish. Combine marinade ingredients; pour hot marinade over ribs. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Combine sauce ingredients. Heat charcoal grill.
Remove ribs from marinade and place on grill over hot coals. Let sear over hot coals; turn to sear other side. Baste with sauce. Cook ribs, turning and basting frequently, until tender, about 50 to 60 minutes. Ribs should be tender in the thickest sections.
Serves 4 to 6.
