Suzy's Soft Shelled Deep-Fried Crab

Suzy shares her fried soft shell crab recipe on white bread with mayonnaise.

Ingredients:

  • Pepperidge Farm White Sandwich Bread
  • Hellmans Mayonnaise
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce, such as Crystals
  • salt and pepper
  • cracker meal *see Suzy's note
  • flour
  • thinly sliced Red onions
  • chopped lettuce

Preparation:

Generously spread mayonnaise on bread slices. Clean your crabs then soak in a mixture of beaten egg, milk and hot sauce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

After soaking coat them in cracker meal and flour mixture. About half and half of each. Deep fry them in hot deep oil (around 370°) until browned. Serve crabs on bread with lettuce and red onion slices.

Suzy's Note: ...cracker meal is the shake and bake and fish fry stuff. It is finely ground cracker and you really can't beat it.
