Ingredients:
- 1 beef brisket, about 5 pounds
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
- 1/2 cup soy sauce, reduced sodium
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- ground cayenne pepper or hot sauce, to taste
- 1/3 cup light or dark corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 6 ounces lemon-lime soft drink, or ginger ale
Preparation:
Trim brisket of all visible fat; place in slow cooker. In a medium-size bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour over brisket. Cook on high heat for 2 hours, or until simmering. Turn heat to low and cook for 7 to 9 hours.Serves 12 to 15
