Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3/4 pound bacon, diced
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cans (1-LB, 15-ounce size) pork and beans
  • 1 can (15 to 16 ounces) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 to 16 ounces) butter limas, drained
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Preparation:

Brown ground beef in skillet; drain off fat and put beef in slow cooker/Crock Pot. Brown bacon and onions; drain off fat, Add bacon, onions and remaining ingredients to slow cooker/Crock Pot. Stir together well. Cover and cook on low 4-9 hours.

Cynthia's Notes: I usually use about 1-1/2 LB ground chuck and I use 1 LB of bacon. This increases the amount so I can freeze for another meal.

THE BEST BEAN DISH IN THE WORLD!! My mother gave me this recipe years ago, I've taken it to a lot of parties and everyone always absolutely loves it. I don't put the liquid smoke in it because I never buy it and I use little green Lima beans, and Butter beans.(bigger, size of a quarter, yellow, brown color) and it's great. Got the recipe out of the little book that came with her crock pot and it's called""One Pot Dinner"" in it.
