Crockpot baked beans, with dried navy beans and molasses.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound dried navy beans, rinsed, picked over, and soaked overnight
- 3 1/2 cups water
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/4 pound salt pork, cut into 1" cubes
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
Drain beans; transfer to a Dutch oven and cover beans with fresh water. Simmer on stovetop for 30 minutes, or until just tender; drain.
Combine drained beans, 3 1/2 cups water, and remaining ingredients in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for LOW for 8 to 10 hours, until beans are very tender and done.
