Anne's Crockpot Chicken

Serve this flavorful crockpot chicken with a salad and noodles, rice, or potatoes.


  • 1 frying chicken, cut up
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 tbsp. dry Italian salad dressing mix (Good Seasons, etc.)
  • 2 (3 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, cut in cubes
  • 1 tbsp. onion, chopped


Wash chicken and pat dry. Brush with butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place in Crock Pot. Sprinkle with dry salad mix. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours.
About 3/4 hour before serving, mix soup, cream cheese, wine, and onion in small saucepan. Cook until smooth. Pour over chicken in pot. Cover and cook for 30 minutes on low. Serve with sauce. Serve with rice or noodles. Serves 4 to 6.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this recipe with such a small amount of liquid -- melted butter -- in the crockpot. But the chicken cooked well in the butter and its own juices. The flavors of the dry dressing mix and cream cheese is quite different. I think, though, I might try adding the sauce a little sooner, say, 1 hours prior to serving. I used Berlinger Chinin Blanc for the sauce.
