Chicken and Herb Dumplings

Biscuit mix dumplings make this slow cooker chicken and dumplings easy and delicious.


  • 3 pounds chicken pieces, skin removed
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 10 small white onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground marjoram
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1 cup biscuit mix
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 6 tablespoons milk


Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper, place in slow cooker or crockpot. Put all onions into pot. Add garlic, marjoram, thyme, bay leaf and wine. Cover and cook on low 5 to 6 hours. Remove bay leaf. Stir in sour cream. Increase heat to high and combine biscuit mix with parsley. Stir milk into biscuit mix until well moistened. Drop dumplings from teaspoon around edge of pot. Cover and continue to cook on high for 30 minutes longer, until dumplings are cooked.

I added carrots and mushrooms. The broth had a nice, subtle, tangy flavor. I'd definitely make it again!
