Chicken with Cranberries

Chicken breasts are cooked in the slow cooker with a flavorful mixture of cranberries and spices.


  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons flour mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water


Place all ingredients, except flour and water mixture, in the slow cooker or Crock Pot. Cover and cook on low 6 to 7 hours, until chicken is tender. Add flour mixture in the last 15 to 20 minutes and cook until thickened. Taste and adjust seasonings.
Serves 4.

OK, Member NFMama

The dish had a nice flavor but nothing spectacular. I have 5 year-old twins and hoped they would like it but they hated it. I had the same problem as the other reviewer with the flour mixture creating lumps even though I used 3 tablespoons of water instead of 2 and did my best to thoroughly mix it. It would have been better to just skip that step all together.
