By Diana Rattray, About.com

Cranberry roast chicken recipe, with baking and crockpot instructions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (about 3 1/2 to 4 pounds)
  • 1 can jellied or whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup water or French dressing (see Debbie's note)

Preparation:

Mix cranberry sauce, soup and water. Pour into crockpot. Top with chicken and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Spoon sauce over chicken a few times near end of cooking time. So simple, so delicious.

Debbie's Note: I have been making this for years with whole berry cranberry sauce and French dressing instead of water. I bake in oven for about 45 mins at 350° or make in the slow cooker.

Cranberry ChickenApril 28, 2008By CGBuzz
"Hubby enjoyed, said he would like having it again. Placed chicken in pan with sauce on top and roasted....enjoyed. If I would use the crockpot, I believe I'd take the skin off first, I have found that important when using that for chicken. Terrific with rice and veggie."
