Best chili outside of Texas!December 14, 2007By Joanybaloney
"I did not have tomato puree on hand so I substituted catsup and skipped the sugar. Otherwise, I made exactly as described (with 90% lean ground beef), and my whole family loved it! It is not a hot & spicy Texas chili, but a really rich & thick & flavorful chili that we couldn't get enough of. It isn't as quick & easy to make as a lot of other crockpot recipes, because you have to brown the ground beef first, but it is worth it -- it's a warm & hearty meal for a cold winter night! Leftovers don't last long because it tastes just as good reheated! This recipe is a real keeper!"
