Paulette's Taco Bake

This is a slow cooker taco style macaroni and cheese.


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 package (1 3/4 ounces) taco seasoning
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce OR 2 cans (8 ounce each) tomato sauce
  • 1 package (8 ounce) shell macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 can (4 ounce) mild chopped green chiles
  • 2 cups mild shredded Cheddar or Jack cheese


In a skillet, brown ground beef and onions, drain well. Add the water, taco seasoning and tomato sauce; stir to blend. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Transfer to slow cooker. Stir in macaroni and chopped green chilies. Cover and cook on Low for 6 - 8 hours or on High for 3 - 4 hours. About 30 minutes before end of cooking time, top with shredded cheddar cheese.
Serves 6 to 8.

More like taco mush, Member Rebrafe

I was really excited to try this recipe because I knew my boys would love it. I was a little concerned when I saw to include the pasta in the crockpot for 6-8 hrs, since I have done that before and it has been a disaster (except for lasagna) but I did it anyway. Got home from work and the house smelled amazing! Unfortunately, when I tried the dish, it was like a pile of mush and quite tasteless. Not sure if the boys will eat it when they get home from school :( It was a waste of alot of good ingredients.
